1. usually when a lot of people are linking to your blog, spammers become aware of its popularity. Even I stared receiving a lot of spam comments, and then I used the word verification tool, and that stopped the spammers. However, I think that the word verification tool also prevents genuine people from commenting as it is timely to type in the letters individually. Anyways, you might want to use the word verification thing for a while and then remove it after a while, like I did.

2. Activate captcha in comments, or simply get yourself a better blogging software :-)

3. You should use Spam Protection in your comment form. Check out this page:

   There are just 2 lines you should add to enable it.

4. Try going to the following link. You copy a bit of html and paste onto your template. After I did, I get no spam.
