King Abdullah has issued a royal decree on reducing petrol prices for consumers in the Kingdom by about 30%. Meanwhile, gasoline prices are at historic highs in the United States and some other Western countries, so you can expect some angry blog posts this week (not by me of course, because I would be busy filling my car’s tank :-)

Good news congratulation for you in Saudi Arabia, i can not understand why the UAE increased the fuel price
Just found your blog and am really enjoying it. Thanks for your intelligent and thoughtful contributions to my understanding of KSA.
Well, dear Ahmed…Paying high prices for our #1 national product is ridiculous. However, the rise of oil prices in the US is causing a political turmoil. And the funny thing is that big oil companies are not suffering at all, it is the consumers who are paying for this rise.
Why on earth would this make sense? Surely the governemnt needs the extra 30 halalas a liter to put to good use on development projects to benefit the rapidly growing population?

This is because Eppco, Enoc & Emarat donot have their own refineries. They export crude oil and import refined oil. Only Adnoc has its own refineries and they are enjoying the huge profits in petrol prices
