In her column (Arabic), Hia al-Mena’ie says that Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that lacks an important cultural source called “theater.” She thinks that all these justifications by officials about plays for women and children shown during Eid were unnecessary, because “theater is right for everyone, and we must not limit it to certain occasions such as Eid or festivals. We want it around the year, and why not to collaborate with talents from other GCC countries?”

I will never understand the policy of blocking websites in this country. Few minutes ago, I was looking for some photos on Flickr, and all of a sudden, I found that the photo search page on it was blocked. What the hell is going on? UPDATE: Not just the photo search. All the pages of photos by all users are blocked.

It is reported that the government has left the ban on many websites that were blocked due to ideological reasons. The unblocked websites include websites of some opposition movements, such as MIRA, Shiite websites, such as Rasid, and other websites, including Najed and Saudi Affairs. It is not clear if this is a change in the way the government used to deal with electronic content, or if it is just a plain mistake. Let’s wait and see.

They have not announced it yet, but my browser has discovered some RSS feeds from Al-Arabiya.net website. They provide five feeds for the headlines their homepage, news, sports, financial, and last page. It is good to see more Arabic websites support RSS.
