Here is a question for my Saudi readers: Have you ever been to the national museum?

That question should be posed to all Arabs – not just Saudis!
In the West, you see people (including Arabs) queuing to enter museums, galleries and public collections, while in the Arab world, these sanctuaries of the past are empty and dead!
Arabs seem to have forgotten the old saying: He who is without a past, is without a future!
Thanks for this thought-provoking question!
Ask me a year ago and I would’ve said no. But thank God I finally did go last summer. I don’t know about others, but for me the problem seems to be the lack of advertising..the fact that it’s at a rarely frequented side of Riyadh.. and obviously the constant confusion of is it a woman’s day? men’s day? family day? can my bro go on family day?.. etc.
I agree with SBG .. but its not only for musems .. its all the tourists attractions in the country .. if we have holiday, the first thing we think of: malls, movie, hang out with family .. we never think, lets go discover our country!
I did visit a cultural museum here in Oman (private one) only because I had a friend visitng and wanted her to go see that museum .. and to tell you the truth I was really entertained!
The museum has been around for a while. And yes, we’ve visited the place and would highly recommend it for both adults and kids. Many schools organize field trips to the museum throughout the school-year. I went after my 9yr old son enjoyed the visit with his school and asked for another chance to explore the exhibits. Younger children (under 7) might not enjoy it as much as it seems to be designed for an older audience, plan to engage the younger ones in the interesting parts or keep them occupied while others explore or watch the vidoe/movie displays.
As for Leeno’s comment about opening times, the museum hours are available on their site or contact them directly by phone. A little extra planning may be required for making sure the day/time is appropriate for your group, but it is well worth the effort!
People says that they don’t have any knowledge about some museums in the country. even local people says that. This ’s means there is lake of marketing for theses heritage and culture attractions in /out side the country .
While other people says that visiting time is not suitable Especially for people who are working two time in a day. And my question is why museums in our country not attracting tourists?
please answer my question
