  1. I’m glad you posted this. I read it and thought it was a crock; seems like Dowd’s taking her world view and making a huge generalization to the rest of female kind. From my point of view, it seems like women are taking advantage of the choice to be feminine (feeling pretty can be fun!), but have maintained their drive to be competitive within whatever industry suits them. And they are still involved in successful relationships/ marriages.
    But then again, i could be generalizing from my own experience.
    Any thoughts on if Dowd’s article is representative? Are men really looking to marry their secretaries (somehow implying that they value power in their relationships)? Any thoughts??
    In any case, I’m not buying her book…
