Next month, Saudi women and kids will have the chance to go to movie theaters in Riyadh for the first time. According to local papers (Arabic), Riyadh Intercontinental Hotel will show cartoon movies during this Eid al-Fitr, in a 1200-seats theater, especially equipped for this occasion.

Nice Blog..very simple..and simplicity always attracts me.
Hey, I was so shocked when I read the headline in Gulf News, Saudi Arabia to have cinema. I read the details and it said they will show cartoon. but you know somethin, back in the late70s, we used to go watch movies in Jeddah in a cinema theatres. Suddenly they were banned. I hope this start in cinema in riyadh paves the way for having proper cinemas. Do you know what cartoon they are showing and whther it will censored or not?

Hey, have you heard of al Shamshoons….I saw some parts of it, and they removed everything “american” from it: beer, bacon, the various characters, like Jewish, Indian, Christian and so on. I dont think its the same as the original Simpsons any longer.
