Comments or no comments? That is Sabbah’s question…

Comments or no comments? That is Sabbah’s question. I don’t think that comments are an essential part of a blog, and I don’t think that comments would make any blog less or more democratic. Comments can be a good tool for communication between a blogger and the readers, and they encourage taking part in the discussion. However, I still can’t think of them as something critical to blogs.

I don’t receive many comments because of my limited readership. Plus, with the current design of the blog, many people find it hard to find their way to comment. You need about three clicks to comment on any item on this blog; this is too much effort to take. And don’t forget the Word Verification step. It really takes too much to do anything over here! ;-)

  1. I dont think you have a limited number of readers, I think you have a good number of them. The problem is that people done know how to comment. I had the same problem until I met farah, thankfuly she told me that the red @ is what to click to comment.

another thing, you rarly reply to comments. People who comment love interactions.

  2. The internet age has made us impatient.

I think that comments are fun, and I’m always disappointed when sites don’t have them. Especially political web logs. The difference between a web log and a column in the newspaper is that if Tom Friedman pisses me off, I can’t write a point-by-point telling him why he is wrong. Well I could, but nobody would see it.

  3. It’s true, your comment system isn’t the most intuitive! I like comments, on my blog and others, because for me blogging is a social as much as personal activity, and I think it’s kind of amazing and wonderful to be able to just walk up to someone halfway around the world, tap them on the shoulder, and say, “Hi, nice blog you have here.” And this is a very nice blog.
