Alhamedi said the King’s decision banning kissing his hand makes no sense, because everybody still kisses him on his right shoulder, which cannot be done without bowing. Khalid Al-Suleiman thinks that the ban should extend to what he points to as the “unusual practice” of kissing the shoulder. “I hope that those who insisted on kissing hands will also realize that kissing shoulders is equally distasteful to the king. The proper greeting for royalty is now clear: a handshake rather than a kiss,” he said.

I was watching the news on saudi tv the other day and saw people kissing the hand of the crown prince (he didn’t seem too bothered by it). So did the hand kissing stop or not?
Probably the King was only talking about himself, so the Crown Prince does not care, and has nothing to do with the King’s decision.
Can you tell me about the relationship between the two? Are they rivals?
