Oman expereimented to design colored abayas around 10 years back .. but it didnt work .. people still want the black ones ..
There is a website in Kuwait that designs colored abayas and targets American Muslim market and is very successful. Wearing black in many cities across the usa will cause negative attention to the Muslim woman. Some places are more tolerant but in general Americans associate anyone wearing all black with depression, funerals etc. I love all colores in abayas personally.
