I’ve always been a fan of Dr. Mizaini. (ps: He’s a kick-ass translator, and one of baba’s close friends as well!) But I heard he wasn’t allowed to write. That post-flogging phase, he’d be free, just not allowed to write. (which I suppose to writers is far worse than death!) So, what’s the deal? It’s all ok now?
ps: I’ve been forced to see that video he’s discusssed in his previous article, at school, how about you? (and Gosh was it ever so creepy!)
hi ahmed,
who is dr.mizaini? could you share a little bit about him. why was he flogged? What kind of things did he write about? I know you are maintaining two blogs, and I don’t read arabic…but i would appreciate it if you could enlighten me on who dr. mizaini is! Thanks!

Hey Ahmed!
I agree with mansur.. can u please elaborate a bit more on Dr. Mizaini.
Blogs like yours and farooha’s are the only gateways of the ins and outs of Saudi in english apart from the state sponsored Arab News and saudi gazette. Props to you.
I really do think it is time Arabic newspapers have an auto translated website so the world atleast has a clear unfiltered news from the Arab world unlike the carefully opinionated and pleasing-to-the-eye Arab News.
Farah,
Lucky for me, I never seen anything like that. I don’t really know what’s the deal with Dr. al-Mezeini back to writing. But I’m happy he’s back whatever the reason.
Mansur and Nadia,
I previously linked to a story from Arab News on Dr. al-Mezeini’s case. If I had time, I will try to write a long post about it. You know, it could be good for the GVO blog.
