Badria al-Bisher tells a nice story. It turns out that boys are not the only ones to use cameraphones to take photos of girls. Girls will look at boys, make fun of them, and when it’s too funny, they are likely to take some photos.

  1. Hey,

I have seen this happening several times as well. One time my family and I were at cafe aroma, and we were waiting for our turn. There were these girls there, about 19-20 years old, completely covered from head to toe. Now, my sister who is fluent in arabic, could pick their conversations, which it turned out was quite embarassing. These girls were discussing the ‘hot” guys and that one “hot” waiter. They were using all these girly talks to talk about these men, like some guys would talk about girls as if they were objects. What grabbed me was these girls were completely covered, and yet they could talk with one another in such a manner. Plus, since they are behind the veil, they can look at whoever they want without them knowing these girls were checking them out! Whatever happened to “lowering your gaze?” Funny, ain’t it? I believe that just the way the guys abuse cam-phones, there are girls out there who are doing the same! No offence to anyone, but this article proves my point! (I dont know the details of the articles since I cannot read Arabic….still learning!)
