The Angry Arab is releasing his book tomorrow: The Battle for Saudi Arabia. I am absolutely convinced that it won’t see the light of day in any of the Gulf countries so we can’t critique it. But hope to pick up a copy and make it my holiday reading!

Hi. I have just started reading it. It is interesting. But of course, I imagine living in Saudi Arabia would give the book quite a different context than it would for me. Hopefully you enjoy it. As`ad is an excellent writer. If you have time, feel free to stop by my blog at http://leftcoast.blogspot.com
You know, it’s not gonna be available here. Maybe if I went somewhere this summer.
I would be willing to ship a copy to you… It wouldn’t get you in trouble or anything would it?
If you go the US to get the book, don’t go to a Borders or Barnes & Nobles, you won’t find it there (believe me, I tried).
Fortunately I work at an independent bookstore with a left-of-center leaning, so we pretty much already get the publisher’s book. After inventoring it I bought it and am about halfway through it.
I hope all the best out there.
Hi Anthony,
The only way to send it without getting any trouble would be using shipping services (Fedex, DHL, UPS, etc), because the mail services are censored here.
I bought mine at Borders, but had to order it. I would be willing to ship you a copy if you wanted to pay for it. And I imagine I could get it autographed by the author for you (as I am one of his students) assuming you want it autographed. Let me know…
Ahmed,
If you have the time (and are willing to put up with me) I would love to correspond with you about Saudi Arabia. The middle east fascinates me, and after graduate school, I will be looking for a job there. Thanks.
