During summer, large number of young men in Riyadh go to Jeddah to have a good time, because they are not allowed to enter entertainment places, such as shopping malls, in Riyadh, unlike Jeddah, which does not have this kind of boys-phobia. Well, not anymore. According to this story, some of Jeddah’s biggest shopping mall decided to follow their Riyadh counterparts by not allowing single men to enter. Several problems between young men and the security guys were reported on Wednesday at the beginning of Jeddah Summer Festival. “Staying home and watching TV is much better than this embarrassment we face,” a man told Asharq al-Awsat.

Hey, as far as I can remember, boys were not allowed in Jeddah malls when I was here last year. This past week, my dad and I went to Basateen mall twice, and both times, there were swarms of young guys in there! It seemed like as if the rules has been relaxed and men are allowed. But you see, the weird thing is that these men just go hang out in there in one place, checking out the girls, which then becomes very obvious! Why cant these young guys just go and hang out there on their own, instead of checking out the girls in an obvious manner? I mean, if the guys do this, then even I would not allow such kind of guys. When I go with my friends, we just go hang out on our own, eat at the food court, do window shopping, and just have a good time on our own!
