Nora al-Sa’ad thinks that introducing cinema theaters in Saudi Arabia is a mistake. She believes that we have many problems need to be solved before even thinking about a trivial matter such as cinema. I have to disagree with her on this. If cinema were such a trivial matter, why would you compare it to problems like unemployment and poverty? When it comes to solving our nation’s problems, no one has the right to set priorities. We must all work really hard to solve all of these problems, instead of wasting our time and effort trying to identify what the most important problem is. Her excuse reminds me with the lame excuse Arab leaders use for delaying reform in their countries: solve the Palestinian conflict first. As if the conflict was solved, they will be running to reform and democracy. Yeah! Right!

There is a long discussion over at Noura’s blog (Arabic) about what names Saudi males choose to indicate their female counterparts in their mobile phones. For me, I don’t use any real names on my mobile phones, I use nicknames/alias for boys and girls alike. So, my mom is Emotion, my brother is Careless, my uncle is Blah Blah, and my friends are Crude, Qwerty, and Voltage 284. What do you think about these names? Cool, right? (If you think it’s lame, just ignore it, and forget about it!)

The World Cup final draw has grouped Saudi Arabia with Spain, Ukraine, and Tunisia. Not an easy group for Saudis, but not the most difficult one. Gabriel Calderon, coach of our national team, was satisfied with the draw, saying it could be worse, much worse. The Saudis were also lucky to face Tunisia on the first match.

Arab News: “In Saudi Arabia, being a girls-school gate guard is considered one of the most difficult and worst jobs.” I think just being Saudi is a difficult job enough :-)
Back
My break is over. I needed some time off because I had some mid-term exams, but unfortunately the break did not help me to ace any of them (I’m not smart, I’m just a smart mouth!). Thanks for those have left comments on my last post, especially the ma fi blog, ma fi masrouf guy. That was pretty funny (although creepy at the beginning). Anyways, I’m back with two long posts, and more. Those of you who follow my blog closely (read: nobody) would notice that I usually tend to write longer posts when I’m away from the blog. And no; it is not an indication for any abnormality; it’s just a habit. I think it’s just good to be back.
Announcement
I need a break. No blogging for this week.
