Responding to the criticism of several writers, and as an effort to reduce the sound pollution in our cities, the ministry of Islamic affairs has issued some regulations to control the use of microphones in mosques. I think this is a step in the right direction. Not just the decision in itself is right, but this can also be a good start for the ministry to change their attitude about the criticism they receive in the local press. I’m looking forward to the day when Shiites can air their complete athan. Too hopeful? Probably.
