I know that most Arabs know who Ibn Battuta is, but for most Westerners, he is a new discovery.

Here is a story about an imam of a mosque who swore at a KAAU student, and insulted his parents before starting to beat him. Then, he enlisted the aid of seven men in his employ that all set upon the young man. The reason: the student parked his car near a store owned by the imam. Correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t an imam is supposed to be an example for the people to look up to?

When I linked to the news of an Egyptian blogger being arrested, a commenter said he deserved what had happened to him. Here is a good post by another Egyptian blogger on why bloggers should support Karim’s release. UPDATE: He is released now.
