I know Dan Gillmor would like to read this: Asharq al-Awsat has a story on the rise of citizen journalism. The story talks mainly about the importance of photos and video clips taken by victims of London bombings, who used their mobile phones to deliver the latest images from different locations. A photographer, who works for AFP told the paper, “These personal devices will not replace professional photographers, at all.” Of course, these will not replace them, but they will make it faster and easier to deliver news.
